They brought us loads of excitement in the first season and showed the world the amazing talent on offer in the African modelling industry and now, the ANTM team are in search of the continent’s top model.

Led by programme producer Oluchi Orlandi, the Africa’s Next Top Model team including Editor Josie Borain and acclaimed New York based photographer Remi Adetiba (Africa’s own Nigel Barker) have been touring round Africa, auditioning in various cities for the second series scheduled to take place in Lagos later this year.

The team is now currently in Zimbabwe where they’re holding free auditions in the search for the country’s representative for the next season. Orlandi’s manager Mangangoni Latoya told the Zimbabwe herald that she’s ‘been impressed with Zimbabwean girls so far’, adding that, “We have called for entries and it is still open to girls aged 18-25 years of which the first preference is on those who had applied via our website, although we believe there are more girls who are interested.”

“We will give room to those interested but they have to meet the requirements that are height, slender, natural beauty and confidence,” she said.

Oluchi herself won the MNET Face of Africa competition held in South Africa in 1998. The event heralded a new dawn in the African modelling industry which paved the way for others like Melan Magese, Agbani Darego and many more.

The original version of the show America’s Next Top Model is owned by supermodel Tyra Banks.
