Finally the anticipated fight is officially set and sealed. Floyd Mayweather is scheduled to battle Manny Filipino Pacquiao in the ring on Saturday, May 2nd at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, and tickets will start being available today for both in-arena and closed circuit viewing.
The venue has a capacity of 16,500 but only about 1.000 seats can be bought by public with the rest going to fighters, promoters, sponsors and the casino.
Here is the overwhelming part: the cheapest ticket for the 2 May bout will cost £1,000 ($1,500), rising to around £5,000 ($7,500).
“I don’t worry about tickets, I worry about the guy in front of me. Manny Pacquiao that’s my whole focus. Tickets is something I don’t deal with.” Mayweather said.
Floyd Mayweather has won all 47 of his fights, 26 by knockout. Filipino Pacquiao has 57 wins, five losses and two draws.
I am anticipating this fight, patiently. It’s not fun watching people punch themselves in the face, but hey! It’s Floyd Mayweather and Pacquiao! Tickets could cost more than £60,000 and that is clearly above my means. Someday, I pray to sacrifice greatly in a heartbeat, for an event that costs what it’s worth.
