Birmingham based singer songwriter Gambimi is already poised for a great start, the artiste celebrated his 20th birthday on the 6th April 2016 in London, UK with a new record deal with Warner Music / 6 Music Group, Birmingham The R&B singer has already amassed huge support from fans in his home city of Birmingham with shows appearances alongside Maxi Priest, Session Boyz and JHus. His new single ‘Waters’ is the first single releasing on the 6th May is taken from his upcoming EP.
Born in Brazzaville, Congo, Gambimi moved to the UK when he was 6 years old. He grew up around women and says his transitioning from a boy to a man was a challenge and music was one of his outlets. Talking about his new single ‘Waters’ Gambimi says, “The song came to me as a hook initially and the lyrics were a combination of a new phase of sexual maturity”.
‘Waters’ is a beautifully constructed song with layered vocal harmonies and space for Gambimi’s voice to lead the journey. The string driven opening is evocative of water droplets before the rest of the track kicks in. Gambimi’s modern R&B style is akin to Trey Songz or Miguel with a free flowing, relaxed and hypnotic.
His honeyed dulcet tones paired with his emotive songwriting skills make Gambimi a real British talent to watch. His sexy style of R&B and sultry delivery stands out in a space where the musical landscape is full of hard and aggressive songs. Gambimi says, “The EP will be an artwork of my current position in life. I want my cement myself in the R&B scene in the UK and highlight the fact that R&B will be bought back to the UK and stay as long as I am active and an artist”.
Gambimi comes to live with his live performances. His connection with the audience, rich vocals and performance is one of the keys to his success so far. There is a planned summer live tour, which will see Gambimi perform live across the UK.
