3 Exciting Workshops not to miss at Africa Utopia

Africa Utopia is a mini festival celebrating modern Africa and discovering “art and ideas from Africa that are changing the world.” Africa Utopia is going to from Wednesday 31 August to Sunday 4 September 2016.

Some things to look forward to are the Chineke! Orchestra who will be performing at the Royal Festival Hall, on Sunday. They are Britain’s first professional orchestra made up entirely of black and minority ethnic musicians.

The Mandela Trilogy with the Cape Town Opera & Chorus, which will be showcased everyday except Sunday, will also be in the Royal Festival Hall. They have over 60 performers and the tribute will go through Nelson Mandela’s life, from his tribal initiation, to him being incarcerated on Robben Island.

On Thursday the Africa Utopia Dance Social will be held in The Clore Ballroom at the Royal Festival Hall. It will be free and you will not need to book a space. Akosua Boakye and DJ WAVI will be running the workshop and traditional and contemporary music will be playing to help you get into the groove!

Those are just three of many exciting workshops, music, talks and performances celebrating the continents arts and cultures.
