Bonang and the MAMAs: When Your Cover Girl is Also A Girl Boss

I know, we can’t believe it!! This year’s MTV African Music Awards is taking place tomorrow in Johannesburg (we’ll be covering the red carpet so keep an eye out for the best dressed on the night). We can’t wait to see all the performances tomorrow night, not to mention who will win this year’s categories, there is just too much talent to choose from.

Earlier this morning, original host, Trevor Noah, apologetically tweeted that due to a severe upper respiratory and ear infection he would not be able to make an appearance on the nightimg_3116

We shared his disappointment but very soon after we found out that Glam Africa Cover Girl, Bonang Matheba, will be taking his place as this year’s host. Can you imagine! With just a little over twenty four hours to prepare, we can’t wait to see South Africa’s Queen B on the MTV stage tomorrow.

Getting red carpet ready is not as effortless as the stars make it seem.

Lupita Nyong’o is all about flawless skin when it comes to the Red Carpet:

I love using natural oils. I use avocado oil and Hawaiian kukui oil on my face. I like to keep things natural, simple, and straightforward.

Sofia Vergara is big on balance for the night:

Not too much food, not too much exercise, not too much anything.

And Kerry Washington works on working out:

Sleep well, get up early, work out, and then have a really great time with the hair and makeup people!

But these things don’t happen over night! And hosting calls for so much more than just looking the part.

At least we know not to worry about Glam when it comes to Bonang’s look for the night. Is she ever not slaying? Here are five of our favourite Red Carpet looks from our Instagram timeline this year.

Showtime!!! ☺️👌🏽😍👑

A post shared by Bonang Matheba (@bonang_m) on

Bonang in Gert-Johan Coetzee for last week’s South Africa’s tourism award Lilizela Awards 2016.

Slaying in Coetzee yet again for the YOU Spectacular Awards.

Africa really represented at this year’s BET Awards. Here Queen B is wearing John Paul Ataker.

Possibly one of our favourite looks by Tabio Bacar for April’s Oliver Awards.

We changed our mind… This is definitely our favourite red carpet look. Bonang and Taibo are a winning combination!

We wonder who she will end up wearing tomorrow night? We cannot wait!
