Cocktails and Dresses: Images From Lagos’s Most Anticipated Fashion Event

Last Sunday, Lagos hosted one of the largest celebrations of made in Africa goods. Of course we’re talking about the second edition of Cocktails and Dresses. The day was the perfect platform to redefine African fabrics and fashion, showcasing a perfect blend of uniqueness and sophistication. The hall mirrored the theme of the event – ‘Everything Luxury & High-quality Made in Africa’ with exhibitors stand beautifully emblazoned with  prints and a touch of ‘ankara’ umbrellas.

The event had distinguished personalities from different industries in attendance. The very best African designers placed their bags, shoes, clothes, health and beauty products on display. Inaugurating the event was Project Fame West Africa’s Mirabel Ayavoro, who performed a moving rendition of the Nigerian national anthem.

The CEO’s panel session was conducted by thriving African entrepreneurs, young trend setters who are leaving a great imprint on our continent. Mediated by Ms. Bolanle Olukanni, the session engaged in conversations with Mr. Michael Ugwu (CEO of Sony Music West Africa), Mr. Kabir (CEO of Zippy Logistics) and Ms. Olatorera Oniru (CEO of Dressmeoutlet.com).

Cocktails and Dresses would not have been the event we expected without a fierce fashion show. This edition debuted the latest collections of four up and coming designers. Something Bohemian is a timeless collaboration collection from designers Blingshiki and Muji Lagos. Tash by Tasha Godwin awed the audience with her fab and unique collection. Nikky Kay Couture showcased a collection of outstanding designs in high-end floral and print fabrics. Amarelis Atelier redefined stylishly chic and sophisticated with her designs.

After the success of this year, is anyone else excited for next year’s edition of Cocktails and Dresses?
