ROK Studios, the award-winning Nigerian film studio, will take on a grand tour across Southern Africa from Thursday 21st to Sunday 31st March 2019, where super-fans in key locations across South Africa and Zambia can connect with their favourite Nollywood stars.
Launched in 2013, ROK Studios is a leading African film and television studio and production house based in Lagos, Nigeria. They specialize in the creation of content in partnership with the industry’s foremost creative talent. ROK has developed, produced and financed film and TV series for distribution platforms globally. Rok owns one of the larger content libraries in Nigeria, with blockbuster films and series, as well as an Animation Studio called ROK Animations Studios.
Joining Nollywood actress and CEO of ROK, Mary Njoku on the ROK ME Tour will be top stars from the hit series, Single Ladies, Festac Town, and Husbands in Lagos including Desmond Elliot, Mercy Aigbe, Bolanle Ninalowo, Jackie Appiah, Annie Macaulay-Idibia, Chinedu Ikedieze and Efe Irele.
The ROK Me tour will begin in Johannesburg and Cape Town from Friday 22nd March, ending in Lusaka on the 31st of March, before proceeding to West African cities, Accra and Lagos over the next couple of months. The stars will experience some of the best tourist destinations in each city to discover and celebrate African history and culture, whilst connecting with Nollywood lovers via exclusive Meet and Greet events and VIP dinners.
To further diversify ROK’s content and the global appeal of Nollywood as a whole, ROK will also be on the lookout for local talent throughout the tour, especially with the release of new series such as “The African Couple”.
Nollywood has become a global phenomenon by making it possible for Africans both home and abroad to vicariously experience life in their home and neighbouring countries alike. These movies have encouraged intra-African tourism, trade and engagement, as they continue to shed light on common cultures which are shared across the continent.
