One member of the eight finalists of this years LVMH Prize from Africa, Thebe Magugu speaks to British fashion critic and writer, Suzy Menkes during her recent visit to South Africa for the Conde Nast International Luxury Conference.

South Africa’s Thebe Magugu and Nigeria’s Kenneth Ize are two Africans rubbing shoulders with other creative designers from different parts of the world for the first prize from the luxury Paris fashion brand. Thebe spoke to British Fashion Journalist Suzy Menkes on what motivates him to carry on with his fashion works, his love for education – what inspires the names of his pieces, like the courses studied in the university, and his year-book.

It wasn’t a one-way affair, Thebe also threw a few questions of what it takes to succeed in the fashion world and more.
