Many women from different backgrounds within South Africa have shared their experiences on social prejudiced at either in the early stages of life or at their matured age.
The joint project between South Africa-based insurance company 1st For Women and media organization Vice opened with views from women on freedom, what it means to be free a woman in South Africa, being able to walk or joke down the street in the morning without any fear of having to look over your shoulders frequently.
Womanhood also take a closer look at the issues of age and marriage for women, one of the women shared her current dilemma at age 32, her family worried about her not being married yet and having kids, her concern is not the fact that she isn’t married but her family. A gang-raped victim shared how her body was abused by her rapists at a younger age, she said ”We teach our daughters to be safe but we don’t teach our sons not to rape”.
A wild range of views shared by women in different fields of working including the struggle by female soccer players to fit in a male-dominated space, religion and more.
