Over the past years, Senegalese International Singer, Akon has taken a dive into the business world by announcing new projects.
Most of the projects are based in Africa especially Senegal, where he was born before moving to the United States with his parents at seven. There is the Akon Lighting Africa project with his partners, Samba Bathily and Thione Niang to bring electricity through solar energy to the continent, he then announced his own cryptocurrency called Akoin.
Fast forward to 2020, the Lonely singer posted an image with of himself in the company of the administrators of SAPCO, a state-owned tourism company based in Senegal to pave way for the construction of the ultramodern Akon City within a period of ten years.
Certainly, this developmental move by Akon will be amplified in the taste for everything from Africa and urged for expansion in the tourism sector in Senegal. And, also trickle down to other African countries as well as that has been the message by the singer.
Interestingly, Akon has been very proactive in the new pattern that the continent needs to take in order to position itself properly for the future. He joined other international celebrities to visit Ghana during the Year of Return commemoration in 2019, a moment used to connect Africans around the world to their root.
