Burna Boy lived to his promise of releasing his fourth studio album – African Giant on July 26th, 2019.
Born Damini Ogulu, the 28-year old is seen as the only true force of Afrobeat now, due to his style of composition, singing and performance on stage.
He earlier announced the tracklist to the album which consists of works with Jamaica’s Damian Marley, Benin’s Angélique Kidjo, Ghana’s Manifest, Nigeria’s Zlatan, the list is endless. Regardless of the work done with the talented acts from different continents across the world, he also had his solo records on the album where he addressed issues relating society, history, poverty, governance and more.
African Giant is not only seen as an upgrade of his previous works but also an album for Africans with international elements. A listening party was hosted by Hennessy and OkayAfrica for music for the fans in Los Angeles, California, on July 23rd prior to the release of the album.
In attendance was African-American communities, record producers like American-based Ghanaian producer Nana Kwabena et al.
