South African women are seeing the death of the country’s female anti-apartheid activist, Winnie Madikizela-Mandela as a loss that has rekindled the spirit of oneness and standing side by side with each other.

On Friday, April 6, 2018, thousands of women including celebrities such as Bonang Matheba, Boitumelo Thulo dressed in all-black outfits from doek, beret or to headscarf a form paying their respect to the falling heroine.

The move was initiated by the ruling political party, African National Congress (ANC) as part of the ten days period of mourning. This move by the women to dress in all black has spread to social media.
