Yesterday I went to Somerset House in London to preview the 1:54 Contemporary African Art Fair. With 17 galleries and over 100 artists exhibiting, I did not leave disappointed. As soon as you enter the Somerset courtyard a display of statues by Zak Ove greet you.
The exhibit is displayed in the West wing, East wing, ground South wing and level 1 South wing, so there is definitely a lot for you to see. The exhibition was initiated by director Touria El Glaoui in 2013.
There is so much variety in the subject matters ranging from landscapes to humans and the type of media used to create the artwork which include chalk, tin, metal, string, wood and lots more.
This is one art exhibition you do not want to miss out on!
