This year’s jury for the Cannes Film Festival had major issues to look at that won’t make the entire process look bias or one-sided. From the ‘Time’s up movement’ which became strong in the world because of the additional voices from the power circles in the world. Politics and also whether movies made by women were favoured over the once from the men and more talk prior to the commencement of the festival.
All that has been shoved aside to make way for the festival to fully start on May 8 with films from different corners of the world to watch by the festival-goers including the jury – Andrey Zvyagintsev, Robert Guediguian, Ava Duvernay, Denis Villeneuve, Kristen Stewart, Chang Chen chaired by actress Cate Blanchett with Burundian singer Khadja Nin also joining them.
During the opening ceremony, the jury sat down in a press conference with the media to answer questions on some of the choices made in terms of the selection.
