All attention will be South Africa this weekend (December 2, 2018) for the Global Citizen Festival 2018 with some of the finest global entertainers in the music field. We can already feel the buzz in the air ahead of the arrival of these stars notably celebrity power couple; Beyonce and Jay Z, Ed Sheeran, Pharrell Williams, Chris Martin and Usher with a special appearance and keynote message to be delivered by media entrepreneur, Oprah Winfrey.
This is a must-attend event for everyone on the continent, especially with the aim the Global Poverty Project’s organized festival seeks to achieve by 2030; which is to completely sweep poverty out of the surface of the earth. It’s not going to be an all international affair, celebrated African stars like Black Coffee, Cassper Nyoves, Tiwa Savage, Wizkid and Sho Madjozi have all been given the nod.
Hence proceeds from the festival are donated to such projects and also used to fight diseases such as HIV/AIDS in countries around the world. The South African edition of the festival coincides with the centenary celebration of the greatest and selfless leader of the country, the late Nelson Mandela. Global Citizen Festival 2018 will be compèred by Britain’s runway queen, Naomi Campbell together with the likes of Tyler Perry, Sir Bob Geldof, Gayle King and Forest Whitaker. Mark December 2 on your calendar!
We went on microblogging platform, Twitter to gather the euphoria ahead of the event and this is what tweeps had to say.
