America-based Somalian model, Halima Aden covers the latest edition of Essence with focus on the gradual rise of the runway goddess.

From a humble beginning as a refugee born in a camp in Kenya, Aden moved to the United States with her parents at the age of seven. She became the first woman to wear hajib which is part of her culture and brand, in the Miss Minnesota USA pageant, she made it into the semi-finals. Now she has successfully broken into the modelling industry and has featured for a couple of renowned brands in the world.

She has worked with pop icon Rihanna by appearing in her Fenty Beauty debut video. During her interview with Essence, she revealed her passion for seeing people help others in society. Moreover, she also spoke about setting a new path by wearing the burkini to many functions in the United States.
