2017 and 2018 have been a phenomenal year so far for movies that have told the story of Black people either in a celebratory manner or brought back the agony of slave stories from the past to the modern world.
‘Get Out’, released in 2017, stands for such movies that go deep into racial battle in this present day, a topic discussed over and over again but seems to still be floating in the air without any solution as a fraction of the world still sees blacks as second to them.
Oscar-nominated writer and director of ‘Get Out’, Jordan Peele took time to explain some of the theories fans on American web rating and discussion platform, Reddit, deduced from the movie after watching it. Most of the theories were from Daniel Kaluuya’s character as Chris, his white girlfriend, Rose Armitage played by Allison Williams and her psychopathic family (The Armitage)
Filled with emotional scenes as young Chris is put through what other black folks in the movie have suffered, and his battle to over hypnosis (Sunken Place) by Rose’s mother, Missy Armitage played by Catherine Keener.
