London Fashion Week is fast approaching and we have a an unmissable experience for young creatives looking for a segue into the competitive industry of fashion. Black Pepper London has teamed up with Temi Otedola of JTO Fashion to bring you the first annual Afternoon Tea in Ankara (ATIA) on Saturday 27th February 2016.
The event is spurred by Temi’s desire to collaborate British style with African culture. As the host of ATIA, Temi will be weaving the traditional Victorian tradition of Afternoon Tea with the fashion created by Africa’s Ankara print (so of course we will be showing off prints and bright colours). Recently featured in British Vogue and as ambassador of Lagos Fashion and Design Week, we cannot think of anyone better to take on this role.
The event will include discussions from a panel of key influencers in the industry, discourses on how to develop your online presence, an opportunity to network with creatives and of course a tantalising twist on the concept of Afternoon Tea. More so than anything, ATIA seeks to combat the issues of diversity still encroaching the fashion industry; merging the two cultures together in such a dynamic way provides a perfect platform from which to do so.
Get involved. ATIA is calling for all, especially young creatives, to get involved. If you are endeavouring to build a career in fashion, we are giving you the opportunity to earn your place at this event.
How to apply:
- Create a short video (no longer than two minutes) explaining why you should be chosen for the event. Alternatively you may compose a brief personal statement exploring your desire to attend.
2. Send entries to email@example.com
3. Follow up by heading to your social media account with a post using the caption ‘Get Into Fashion Now @jtofashion #ATIA2016 (on Twitter AND Instagram)
Only thirty applicants will be selected for a seat at ATIA so make sure you are concise and specific (application ends on Friday 19th February).
