Creating a photo series is a regular thing for most photographers, some come with a strong message to decode, others are self-explanatory just by observing. Nigerian photographer, Josef Adamu’s latest work christened The Hair Appointment is a combination of both in telling the story of the beauty and formation that accompany the process of hair braiding in black communities.

Josef runs his series through a project called the Sunday School together with a team other creatives. The Hair Appointment captures every single moment that depicts the beautiful scenes around and within hair salons. And, that include school kids playing around the salons while elders are getting their hair braid or the kids getting theirs.

The Hair Appointment tells all that story in its pure form. Browse through our gallery below for more photos from the series.
