Kanye West released his ninth studio album ‘Jesus Is King’ on October 25, 2019, and has taken the music world by surprise with it.
Kanye West made a lot of noise and increased publicity around the album before its released, the euphoria around the album shot up even more after the release. His wife, Kim Kardashian was the first to publicly share a series of dates for the arrival of the album, it was postponed before Kanye West tweeted the delay was as a result of him trying to prepare a good product for the fans.
True to his words, the album was released on the date he revealed in his tweet, he has accompanied it with a lot of surprises, first all, a limited edition merch, and then a limited edition cassette retailing for $15, of the album was announced. Each cassette purchased will give fans exclusive access to an upcoming event by him.
Moreover, the multi-platinum selling and award-winning musician and businessman, has climbed the Christian albums and Gospel albums charts on Billboard, where he comfortably sits at the number one spot with the album. This makes it the first time Kanye West is appearing on both religious charts on Billboard, however, he has achieved that in other genres mainly hip-hop.
With this achievement, Kanye West has joined major act like Elvis Presley, Alan Jackson, and Reba McEntire who have also taken the number spot on the religious charts before.
It seems the hip-hop musicians are taking over the religious charts on Billboard, as a fellow rapper, Snoop Dogg gained similar trajectory with Snoop Dogg Presents: Bible of Love, after it released on March 16, 2018.
