Ever since Kanye West announced his Sunday service, he has been constantly focusing on various cities with his choir and growing in strength.
He accompanied it with Jesus Is King album which has generated debate as to whether he has truly converted to Christianity. Even though the rap mogul doesn’t see himself as pastor through his Sunday services, he has labelled it as a ‘spiritual healing’, a transformative and impactful journey for him.
The arrival of Jesus Is King – packed with gospel songs gave the fans a glimpse of what to expect from Kanye in the future. According to a report by CNN, Kanye will be visiting viral celebrity preacher, Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church for a conversation with the pastor during the morning service from 11 a.m. mainly on the journey to his faith, which will mainly be based on the adversities he has overcome in life, before probably performing with his choir during the evening service at 7 p.m.
Kanye’s Jesus Is King album came two years after the release of his Ye album, during the drought process, fans were yearning and requesting for a project. For which he shocked the entire music community with unexpected Sunday service, However, Kim teased the new album on social media a month to its release.
Jesus Is King has been sitting comfortably on the number spot on Billboard religious albums for weeks now, reaching the same mark set by fellow rapper, Snoop Dogg.
Several marketing strategies have been employed by the rapper for Jesus Is King including the release of limited edition merch and cassette, all available on his website.
He also featured his dad, Ray West in the music video for Follow God from the album, and has a documentary as well.
