Lagos Fashion Week 2018 will welcome both heavyweights and up-and-comers in the fashion industry to showcase the aftermath of their creative pieces on the runway. However, before the main event takes place, attention was a focus on the next generation of fashion designers who need guidance in building and sustaining a formidable brand in the interest of longevity.

Hence, the birth of the Fashion Focus Africa incorporated under Lagos Fashion Week and it’s tour of four major African cities, notably, Abuja, Accra, Lagos and Nairobi. It took place from the 26th of August to the 2nd of September 2018. This year’s talks themed – “Building From Within” – featured some of the industry ’s noteworthy creatives who gave insights on how to create and sustain a world-class brand.

Speakers were drawn from all these cities to share their insights on branding; they included, Andrea Iyamah, Vanessa Bannerman, Rukky Ladoja, Adebayo Oke-Lawal, Omoyemi Akerele, Ituen Basi, Aisha Ayensu, Sacha Okoh, Kike Ojewale, Ronke Bamisedun, Claudia Lumor, Og Okonkwo, Nkwo Onwuka, Adama Indimi, James Kahuri, Diana Opoti and Sunny Dolat.

Talks in Abuja and Accra was primarily on the importance of having the right business plan, telling the African story through indigenous brands and choosing the right team and how to present your brand to a client. Speakers included Vanessa Bannerman, Claudia Lumor and more.

Furthermore, a networking atmosphere was created at the Fashion Talks Africa in Lagos and Nairobi for an exchange of ideas between speakers and attendees.
