African-based fashion label, Maki Oh headed by designer, Amaka Osakwe has presented fall 2018 collection titled ‘Ala Koba’ which translate in simple terms as ‘someone that gets you into trouble’ and was showcased at the just ended New York Fashion Week.

Amaka Osakwe made sure the Yoruba culture was heavily represented in the new designs for the event. She opened the show with a dyed and indigo fabric called ‘Adire’ which is very popular with the Yoruba people from the Southwestern part of Nigeria.

Models took to the runway in simple fabrics, open necklines and long sleeves designs from the new collection for the audience.

Over the years, Maki Oh has gained major recognition in the eye of celebrities; Michelle Obama, Lupita Nyong’o, Solange Knowle, Alek Wek, Thandie Newton
