Kanye West blew the minds of opera lovers when he debuted Nebuchadnezzar, he just announced Mary, just a few weeks after releasing Jesus Is King.
Announcing his move from the secular world to Christianity, the album contains religious songs that he has been promoting quite well. He was invited to Pastor Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church to speak to the congregation through a conversation with the celebrity pastor. After which he visited selected prisons in the States to preach the gospel and share motivational words with the inmates.
His Nebuchadnezzar was met with a lot of cheers from the attendees, some used micro-blogging pages like Twitter to express their joy overseeing West deliver a superb and well-coordinated show. The influx of praise was due to the fact that it was West first opera and he managed to host a good show.
The American rapper as announced his second opera titled Mary via Twitter. His longtime creative partner Vanessa Beecroft will direct the play, which will be staged at Art Basel in Miami on Sunday, December 8th, 2019.
West is enjoying a good year, Jesus Is King was number one religious album on Billboard a few weeks after he published it. A limited merch was also released by the rapper, alongside a limited cassette, with a special package for fans who purchased the cassette.
Just like the previous opera, it’s not clear the direction the new one will take until the main day.
