Social Media descended heavily on Swedish fashion chain, H&M after it published an advert on its website showing a black boy in a jumper that had these words ‘Coolest Monkey In The Jungle’ boldly written in front.
The company received several bashing from around the world including celebrities like The Weeknd etc., he cancelled his working relationship with H&M, those who were about to sign deals with the company also decided they won’t anymore.
H&M took down the advert, apologized, admitting that they got everything wrong.
In a new post on the company’s social media page (Instagram), they have gone further to appoint Annie Wu as “Global Leader for Diversity and Inclusiveness” to help drive their work forward in the right direction.

The recent incident was entirely unintentional, but it demonstrates so clearly how big our responsibility is as a global brand. We have reached out, around the world, inside and outside H&M to get feedback. Our commitment to addressing diversity and inclusiveness is genuine, therefore we have appointed a global leader, in this area, to drive our work forward. There will be more from us soon.
