The 7th annual crowning of the prestigious Miss Uganda UK pageant saw 9 finalists from around the UK battle it out to become the next Queen taking over Miss Bridget Katungi.
The sold out grand finale was held in South London bringing together almost all Ugandans and other Africans for this year’s edition of the beauty pageant in the UK.
All the ladies opened the show by singing both the Ugandan and British national anthems, out of which five; Jan, Leena, Renah, Shamim and Sarah were selected for the talent round were their performed traditional dances, singing and poetry.
UK-Ugandan artistes; iLLAMADi, Clinton-Elvis, African Pearl dancers and Bantu Arts kept the crowd on their feet with energetic performances with special appearance from Eddy Wizzy. The guest of honour on the night was the newly appointed Uganda High Commissioner in London H.E Julius Peter Moto.
19-year-old Jan Mukiibi emerged the winner on the night, Jan who was contestant number 2 was also awarded The People’s Queen Award as she had the most votes by public voting online via the Miss Uganda UK official website, also awarded, Miss Eloquent 2017 and Best Creative Wear 2017 by the judges on the night. Miss Mukiibi will be carrying out the official Miss Uganda UK campaign alongside Jubilee Campaign UK raising awareness against Child Sacrifice in Uganda and is now the official ambassador & face and voice of Jubilee Campaign UK. In 2nd place 1st Princess was contestant number 4 Renah Nassuna who was awarded Best Creative Wear 2017 and Best Catwalk 2017, 3rd place 2nd Princess was awarded to contestant number 3 Leena Kyabula who was also won Miss Personality 2017, Best Ambassador 2017 and Rising Woman 2017 award sponsored by Elevate Studio.
