Somali model Halima Aden is redefining what it means to be a model and boy-oh-boy is she slaying the fashion world.  The 19-year-old  will be gracing the cover of Vogue Arabia‘s June 2017 issue, making her the first to wear a hijab on the cover of a Vogue magazine.

The rising star on the modelling scene has skyrocketed to fame since walking in Yeezy’s Season 5 show in February and since then she has gained global attention for sporting her headscarf on the runway and preaching a message of self-acceptance.

Next month’s spread includes an “All Eyes on Halima” editorial in which she wears pieces from Dior and Max Mara.

Vogue Arabia’s new Editor-in-Chief, Manuel Arnaut, says the Somali-American model was the perfect cover star for their “Celebrating Identity” issue, which is all about putting the deserved spotlight on Arab talent, fashion heritage and craftsmanship.

This is truly great that Halima is the first hijab wearing model. Hopefully we will continue to see runways get more inclusive in the future.
