Established in 1996, the Music Of Black Origin shortened to MOBO helped in placing marketable value and recognition of music from Africans living on the continent and elsewhere in the world. Kanya King who is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of the MOBO Organization received the coveted Order of the British Empire from the Duke of Cambridge, Prince William.

This significant decoration comes to congratulate her on her contribution to music and culture in the United Kingdom over the years where the MOBO award show is stage annually.

Kanya King is born to a Ghanaian father and Irish Mother but grew up in London where she birthed the MOBO idea and helped it through hard work into the limelight to celebrate true black music. Congratulations!
