On December 29, 2017, the Banquet Hall, State House, Accra, Ghana saw a heavy gathering of almost all the legends in the Ghanaian industry for the Musician Union of Ghana’s Presidential Grand Ball graced by His Excellence, Nana Akufo-Addo, President of the West African country, compèred by ace broadcaster, Kwame Serfa Kayi.
In its fifth year, the event focused attention on honouring music legends who have contributed to building a strong foundation of music pillar for the new generation to take over from, raised funds to support ageing musicians and also award influential personalities with a great passion for the development of the music industry in the country.
His Excellence, Nana Akufo-Addo praised the legends for the amount dedications and sacrifices they made to elevate the industry to it current state where the youth can have something substantial from it, he also charged the youth not to lay back but rather must continue to work harder to prove the industry.
Account of the ageing musician’s fund was boosted with the auction of musical instruments like Trumpet, Flute, Paintings, Acoustic Guitar and Pentatonic Xylophone belonging to Paapa Yankson, Owurama Badu and Aya Koo Nimo respectively, they were picked by top business executives.
We spotted most of the legends including, Nana Kwame Amapadu, A.B Crentsil, Obuoba J.A Adofo, Jawal Ackah, Daddy Lumba, and business executives like Akosua Dentaa Amoateng, Kennedy Agyapong, Oscar Yao Do (Honored on the night) etc.
