‘This Is America’ by Childish Gambino has a strong message, but the video amplified that with the choreography led by Rwandan dancer, Sherrie Silver. A fully embedded variety of societal problems from the slave trade to police violence all placed in different dance from Africa ‘Gwara Gwara’ to ‘Azonto’ and was even remixed by Nigerian musician, Falz.

The message in the video was carefully dissected on the global stage, reviewed by several platforms and drawing plenty of applause to Sherrie and her dancer, Children of destiny. Three months since the video came out, it has picked up three different awards at the MTV Video Music Awards held at Radio City Music Hall, New York on August 21, 2018.

The video won Best Direction, Video With A Message and then our favourite, Best Choreography. Sherrie took to her Instagram page to express her appreciation to everyone for believing in her especially, Childish Gambino for providing her with an opportunity on such a huge project.
