It’s that time of the year again! Naturalistas are desperately searching for protective styles to prevent the damage of inconsistent weather and the cold of a winter morning. Not to mention that with all the festivities that are fast approaching, a low maintenance style means more time can be spent perfecting Halloween inspired makeup and shopping for Christmas presents. I, myself, have been rocking the same two strand twist out for the past month now, spending wash day detangling as re-twisting.
This year’s challenge is made much easier with the amount of tutorials specified for natural hair and the amount of women, natural or not natural, wearing protective styles.
One look we’ve seen being recycled is the Alicia Keys Braids (yes we’ve given it a new name). You know the ones I mean, the cain rows that are “embellished” with side burns. And we’re not the only ones who think this look is definitely due for a comeback.
