Go on. Give it a go. You know you want to. No they’re not childish, or sloppy ‘strictly for the gym’ footwear. In fact since designer Phoebe Philo demonstrated how acceptable it is to take the runway in a classic pair of Adidas Stan Smiths to take her bow; the trend of wearing trainers with our outfits has become increasingly popular, from the likes of Rihanna and Ciara to actress Sara Jessica Parker. Celebrities have reinforced the idea that it’s okay to give our little piggies a break from all the day to day running around to sustain and progress our careers; not forgetting the wear and tear from the stiletto heels that we’ve grown all too accustomed to wearing on a regular basis.
So the general idea is that we can now wear trainers with basically any outfit we would usually wear and still look just as feminine and stylish as we would with our heels or loafers and brogues.
Not too sure about this?
Replace your standard choice of footwear – heels, shoes etc with a pair of classic white trainers. These include styles from Adidas Stan Smiths, Adidas Superstars or Reebok Classics, a streamline style which still flatters a feminine outfit, and the classic white keeps the look clean.
Still unsure? Go for classic white Chuck Taylor Converses.
