When the names of the angels for the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2018 were released, the relief for many across the continent was the high level of diversity in the selection for this year at Manhattan’s Pier 94. Everyone was excited!
Seeing a lot of black models included in the list to strut the runway for world’s biggest lingerie brand, who wouldn’t start toying with switching careers to become a model? It might be too late (and far-fetched) for some of us but we were pleasantly happy for all the black models selected for the show’s return to the Big Apple, New York.
African-Canadian model, Winnie Harlow, who has used her global success in the modelling world to promote self-love and inclusion within the industry; expressed her excitement over her selection via her socials. South Africa’s biggest export in terms of runway modelling, Candice Swanepoel also maintained her spot in the good books of organizers. Wow, she keeps winning!
Other fast-rising models from the continent selected for the show included – Subah Koj, Leomie Anderson, Duckie Thot, Mayowa Nicholas, and trust us, they all proved why they deserved to be on the stage. With a sky-rocketing global viewership that the show enjoys each year, we can’t wait to join the list of views when it officially telecasts on December 2, 2018. Honestly, we can’t wait anymore!
