There have been talks of the future of content creation shifting towards videos, evidence of that is seen in the growth of Youtube.
Hence, generating a lot of interest from companies and individuals to advertise their products on the platform. The advertising revenue from the platform has increased over the past three or more years.
The new CFO of Alphabet, Ruth Porat revealed the company will publish its revenues made from advertising, searches and more in granular basis. Contrary to past practise of not publishing revenues generated by the company. Now content creators, subscribers and general viewers of various contents can have access to the annual advertising revenue of Youtube.
In 2019, it generated $15.1 billion. This figure is almost doubled the $11.15 billion in 2018 and $8.15 billion in 2017. Youtube is operated by search engine giant, Google, which owned by Alphabet. The platform helps most online content creators to earn money from the various approved contents published, mostly videos. This has caused a huge growth in the number of content creators on the platform annually.
